GOALS
The goal of the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority is to:
-
enhance the access of people living in island villages to health care, shopping, education, employment, public services and recreation;

assist in the maintenance, development, improvement, and use of public transportation systems in each island;

encourage and facilitate the most efficient use of all Federal funds used to provide passenger transportation in the CNMI through the coordination of programs and services;

assist in the development and support of surface transportation inclusive of marine/blue highway;
-
provide for the participation of private transportation providers to the maximum extent feasible;
-
improve mobility for elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged persons in villages and municipalities of the CNMI;
-
to ensure that all citizens and visitors of Saipan, including those who live in Rota, Tinian and the Northern Islands, have access to transit to meet basic mobility needs.
